2.9% Increase in the Virginia Minimum Wage Announced for January 2026!

July 29, 2025

In accordance with the Virginia Minimum Wage Act the “minimum wage” is again being adjusted in January from $12.41 to $12.77.  This has, as you may remember, been an action the VNPP has generally supported, but with the caveat that adjustments announced  at the end of July for the following January do not give the opportunity for any adjustments to Medicaid rates in the interim.

However, while this increase still puts the “minimum wage” well below the lowest staff wages for the vast majority of our programs and services, it will increase the wage competition from the wide variety of employers who maybe attractive options for some.   Do review your wages and be prepared to make adjustments, if any, which may be required in January!
