A Quick Update – Details Tomorrow

The Session seems to be off to a slow start; I’m sure that is just an illusion, but there is not much to report, so far.  Predictably the approach taken by the House (now controlled by the Republicans) and the Senate (still controlled by the Democrats) is philosophically very different.  And everyone is still sorting out exactly what the new Administration will do on many issues.  Rumors abound!

The newly appointed Commissioner of DBHDS, Nelson Smith, was gracious enough to spend a few minutes with us during the Board Meeting on Thursday.  He introduced himself and laid out some very general goals (very appropriate for less than a week on the job); we were able, I think, to give him a good sense of the breadth and depth of our Association and the experience of our members!

The Budget amendments are posted, and I have a organized stack on my desk to summarize and post – look for that tomorrow!
