Award Made in Community Engagement Contract

August 02, 2016

On June 1st the notice was posted that the following private providers were among those awarded the DBHDS contract for “Community Engagement:”
  • The Arc of Harrisonburg-Rockingham
  • Grafton School, Inc.
  • NHS MidAtlantic, Inc.
  • NW Works, Inc.
  • Rappahannock Adult Activities, Inc.
  • VersAbility Resources, Inc.
Region Ten and Western Tidewater were the two CSBs also on the list. This RFP was a reissued version of one put out several years ago that was never awarded.  The “goal of this RFP is to provide funding to help providers of these services to reorganize and shift from center-based day services to community based day services that allow for full community engagement.”  They were “hoping to identify at least two providers serving at least 100 people each who are willing to work in partnership with DBHDS to shift their model from center-based to community-based day services.” Congratulations to the successful bidders and we hope that they will share their strategies and successes.  In the meantime, all of the day service providers who are facing the challenge of “moving off center” are looking forward to the more flexible options which should be available in the redesigned waivers soon.
