With support from very unexpected quarters, the Governor’s amendment to the budget which would eliminate the current practice of suspending an individual’s drivers license for failure to pay fines and costs passed the House earlier this afternoon and, in the last few minutes, has also passed the Senate.
It was an issue that we felt strongly about as we know how devastating it is for our staff who struggle to make ends meet and can not always manage the escalating costs that sometimes come with even a small infraction.
