Child Protective Services Has a New Portal for Mandated Reporters

November 27, 2020

We know that many instances of abuse or neglect of children are sparked by stress of the caregiver and this year, particularly, families are feeling extraordinary amounts of stress – from the forced isolation of the pandemic, the loss of employment, rules and routines that seem to change on a daily basis, trying to manage life and home schooling at the same time, food and housing insecurity, and, oh, the Holidays which are fast approaching!

The Virginia Department of Social Services has many training resources for “mandated reporters,”
and they have created an online portal for reporting at https://vacps.dss.virginia.gov/.  DMAS sent out notice through Magellan last week to the behavioral health provider community, but the use would extend to all providers of services to children and adolescents.
