CL Waiver Renewal Out for Public Comment Today

February 21, 2019

DMAS has posted the link to the comment period (30 days): This notice serves to open the 30-day public comment period, which began on February 20, 2019 and closes March 22, 2019 at 5:00pm Eastern Standard Time(EST). The 1915(c) HCBS waiver renewal applications can be located at:

http://www.dmas.virginia.gov/#/longtermwaivers.

And have indicated only minor changes: The proposed renewal application includes (1) a revision to the required frequency of the administration of the Supports Intensity Scale from every three years to every four years for individuals 22 years of age or older; (2) provider qualifications for peer mentor supports and employment and community transportation services have been updated to permit employment services organizations to perform these services, and  (3) updates to the cost-neutrality demonstration. We are monitoring the end of the 2019 Session and will comment as appropriate on changes which might be suggested by Budget language re the “supports budgets” language in the application. DBHDS has been pushing hard for the change listed above to decrease the frequency of the SIS for adults – if you feel strongly one way or the other, you should comment.  We will take this  opportunity to add some language about how to handle the SIS scores for those who are older than that top age for which there is validation (also something to add to the comments on the draft regulations!) Comments can be submitted to HCBSComments@dmas.virginia.gov
