Dr. Hughes Melton, Commissioner of DBHDS, was critically injured in a collision near Waynesboro on Wednesday that tragically took the life of a young woman from Staunton. A medical event may have contributed to the circumstances of the accident. He is being treated at UVA Hospital and is in all of our thoughts and prayers. We want to also offer our deepest sympathy to the family of Hailey Green, 18, who lost her life as a result of the collision.
The Governor’s Office announced yesterday that Chief Deputy Mira Signer, will be acting as head of the Department; we will offer Mira all of our support during this difficult time.
