December 13, 2018
The Governor will release his proposed “amendments” to the 2018-2020 Biennial Budget next week; they are proposed “amendments” because this is the mid-point of the two year budget and, as such, the Governor will propose amendments to the budget passed during the 2018 Special Session I and effective July 1, 2018. It has been the practice for a number of years for the Governor to forecast his priorities by having press events and releasing information in the days running up to his presentation to the Joint “Money” Committees. This year the full budget will be released on December 18th.
It is fair to say that the preliminary press releases are not the only indicator of priorities, but if they were the focus this year is no doubt be education!
