Through the Virginia Board for People with Disabilities we have an opportunity to provide “stories” to support the next wave of Federal assistance:
- Share Your StoriesShare your stories, photos, videos about what home and community based services mean to people with disabilities and the direct support professionals and personal care attendants who support them. Senators are collecting stories for the next COVID bill. Send an email with your story to Casey_SeniorSpotlight@aging.senate.gov by April 10th. Make sure you have permission to share. Your story could have an impact.
- If you do provide a “story” please copy us on your email so we can share them too!
Yesterday, we sent this letter
to Governor Northam. In addition to those copied on the letter, we also shared it with key members and staff of the General Assembly. While we all continue to be frustrated with the apparent lack of immediate support available from CMS at the request of the Administration (i.e., the submission of the 1135 Waiver and the Appendix K), we also need to look ahead to the long term health of the system of community care. This letter, as well as the conversations prompted by the letter, attempts to address both of those issues.
