I had the opportunity to review the recent memo regarding
Service Modifications which came out from DBHDS Office of Licensing with Jae Benz, Director. She did clarify that the timeframes for initial review are not cumulative and are all based on the date the modification was received in Central Office. She also acknowledged that the
service modification form revised 8 May, 2019 may still need some revision (it still contains a reference to LHRC affiliation). We did discuss the applicability of some of the requested items and, I believe, she is going to review the lists for each category of request to help streamline the process as much as possible.
In an effort to make the process efficient and recognize that there are, occasionally, extraordinary circumstances which may warrant extra attention, additional guidance should be forthcoming!
Providers can do their part, by trying to be as respectful as possible of the specialist’s time, giving as much “lead time” as possible and being conscientious about making sure that all the “T’s” are crossed and all the “I’s” are dotted. In the meantime, we will continue to communicate our thoughts and concerns to try to make the process as smooth as possible.
