Take a Breath! The Rumors You Have Heard About Medicaid May or May Not Be True!

The President issued yet another Executive Order late last night that pauses a wide variety of Federal Grants pending a review by the Office of Management and Budget.   It is currently unclear if the pause will impact FMAP, the federal portion of the Medicaid funding (which is Virginia is 50% for what we do and more for the Medicaid Expansion population).

We are in close communication with DMAS, ANCOR and other Medicaid experts; in addition, a contingent of Democratic Attorney’s General are filing suit to block the move.    The one important component is that Medicaid – unlike Medicare and Social Security which the “pause” apparently does not affect – is a state managed program.

Obviously the loss of Federal funding for any period of time would be devastating, but the immediate impact is negligible.    So stay tuned, and we will keep you posted!
