The Governor Has Acted on Both Legislation and the Budget!

March 25, 2025

As for as the Budget goes – this quote from the Governor’s Press material says it all!   His action  “Removes most proposed rate increases for expansion of Medicaid services to ensure adequate revenue reserves and future cost avoidance.”

The good news is that he did not touch what was already in Chapter 2 – the 3% expected for the majority of the DD Waiver services is still intact.  However, the funding for Support Coordinators was cut in half, the rate increase for nursing homes was removed entirely and the support for inpatient and residential neurobehavioral and neurohabilitative facilities.

Several vetoes came through as expected – the requirement for 1 hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked and the pre-planned minimum wage increases (though remember there will still be a COLA  this summer for next January.)

There is work to be done!  We want to push hard on the full funding for the Support Coordinators – emphasizing it is not an “increase” but rather it is barely keeping up with all of the new individuals now in the system!

We’ll do a deep dive on the vetoes and recommendations and have a further post later in the week.
