The Nation (and Virginia) Look a Bit Different Tonight

November 04, 2025

At 10:30 pm the results for all three statewide races have been announced, and with 85 of the 100 seats in the House “called” the Democrats have picked up 10 seats – this will at least give them a comfortable margin.   So what does this mean:

• there will new faces in the House of Delegates – if one of them is in your district, you need to begin tomorrow to educate them about who you are and what you do!
• our issues are not necessarily favored by one party over another, but when either party has a substantial majority, they will feel empowered to promote the issues they favor.  It is up to us to educate and support those issues which will improve our services and business sustainability.
• It is also my job to assess which issues will be supportive or will be challenging and are likely to become law with single party control of the House, the Senate and the Governor’s office!   I have a meeting on the “leave” bill already scheduled for tomorrow!
