Time to Play Catch-Up

ISSUE #1 – Where are we with the Medicaid issue in the complex and confusing Congressional process?
- The House passed a bill and sent it to the Senate
- The Senate has been contemplating it for awhile and very late on Saturday night the Republicans voted (with a 1 vote majority) to advance the Senate version for debate and amendments. See a summary here.
- There are still amendments to consider and a few additional Republicans have indicated that they may still be a “No” vote on final passage – Tillis of NC has stated he will not run for re-election which, of course, removes the one tool that the President has to pressure compliance; Rand Paul seems firm in his “No!”
- If a bill passes in the Senate, it will go back to the House – whatever passes in the Senate will look very different from what passed in the House (by a one vote margin).
- So, we’re not done yet!
ISSUE #2 – Getting renewed DBHDS Licenses in the DMAS Enrollment System to avoid disenrollment!
- License expiration notice may come from appshcproductsNoReply@gainwelltechnologies.com which may be why they are missed! They are being deleted as spam or sent to junk!
- There may also be a message saying that there are messages in MES.
- When the new license is available –
- Log on to MES and Select Maintenance>Manage My Information
- Select the proper Services Location
- Select Tab#6 – Credentials
- You can view current licenses and “Create New”
- Enter your information and upload the attachment
- The “system” does not tell you when the license has been processed – so check back
- Assume the responsibility to be sure everything is up to date! If the License issued contains errors, request a “good-standing” letter and enter that until the License is available.
ISSUE #3 – Watch out for a “scam” which is more common in the hospitality industry, but has shown up impacting one of our members. The “scam” is that Individual #1 (who is likely not legal to work in the US) interviews and is hired for direct care; receives training and goes to work; Individual #2 (who is legal to work in the US) is the one who appears at the administrative office and completes all the paperwork – including background check disclosures and I-9 and payroll forms. Individual #1 works under Individual #2’s name.
This would not be likely in a smaller agency where the person interviewing and the individual supervising the completion of the on-boarding were one in the same; however, in a larger agency with a discrete HR office – it is very possible!
