Timeline Revised for Behavioral Health Redesign

July 30, 2019

It was announced yesterday that the timeline for the BH Redesign has been modified; we were pleased with the decision.  One of the concerns that we had expressed was that the timeframe for implementation was too aggressive and implementation would falter because of that.  The assumption now, is that if Phase 1 can be accomplished in January of 2021, then the timeframe for Phases 2 – 4 can be established at that time.

It is important to remember that the plan must still be approved by the General Assembly (the report is due December 1st) and should include the fiscal impact study which must be based on service definitions and staffing requirements.  A lot to be done in a relatively short period of time.

There is, however, a real effort to coordinated between DMAS and DBHDS and certainly an effort to include the provider community.  All positive steps!
