The most recent iteration of the effort to “transform” the behavioral health system in Virginia is moving along quickly – we are posting the resources on the
Behavioral Health Member’s page. The slide deck from the meeting last week includes a time frame which does not account for any significant input from the General Assembly which fits with the intent to make any proposal “cost neutral.” They are trying to integrate these efforts with STEP-VA, which will, at least provide a small amount of funding leverage!
Jon Morris represented VNPP at the first meeting and he will continue to be part of the discussion. There was repeated emphasis on the rank for Virginia is 40th in the country for overall mental health outcomes and 47th in the country for children’s mental health outcomes – there was apparently no answer for the question of what is our rank for funding?
