Update from DMAS for DBHDS Licensed Providers

October 19, 2015

The Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) receives licensing information from the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) in two ways.
  1. The provider submits a copy of their licensing information to DMAS along with the initial application for enrollment and also before it expires via fax at 888-335-8476 or via U.S.P.S. at P.O. Box 26803, Richmond, VA 23261-6803
  2. Or DBHDS sends DMAS a good standing letter that extends the current license term for an additional 6 months until the license is renewed.  The provider is still responsible for submitting their renewed license to DMAS before the extended license expiration date.
If the license is not submitted to DMAS prior to the 90-day grace period after the license termination date or a good standing letter is not submitted by DBHDS to DMAS, the license will term in the Virginia Medicaid system and your enrollment in Virginia Medicaid will be termed.  DMAS currently does not have an automated license update process in place with DMAS and DBHDS, but discussions have begun on how this can be implemented in the near future.  Thank you to DMAS for keeping us up-to-date!
