There is a needed clarification about the “expiration” of the Exceptional rate for individuals in Group Homes with the conversion to the new Waivers on September 1st. Since the original authority for the exceptional rate had not expired, CMS did approve the use of federal funds for an “exception” to continue pending the development of the customized rate.
This has been allowed by DBHDS in very limited cases – and was not well publicized!
