Updated Information re Transportation Requirements
August 19, 2026
The information below was received today from the Transportation Department at DMAS in response to questions/issues raised by members.
Listed below are references for your review concerning MTM Driver Training and vehicle inspection information as well.
- Providers already in the FFS NEMT ModivCare network do not have to have their drivers retrained or vehicles inspected.
- CSBs never have to have their drivers trained by the broker because CSBs provide training that exceeds the PASS and other required training. CSB Vehicles are not required to be inspected by the broker as they have government tags.
- Sole Source Providers who receive gas reimbursement for transporting their own members are excluded from the broker driver training requirement. However, if a Sole Source Provider transports a non-transferable wheelchair member then those drivers driving wheelchair vans are required to go through the wheelchair training.
- If a provider other than a CSB has their own internal driver training program, DMAS can review and approve so MTM can exclude these types of facilities from required broker driver training.
As a footnote, MTM was given the information listed above as well. If there are any instances from a specific facility told differently, we would be glad to discuss with MTM to clear up any misunderstandings.
